SUPER Eagles’ out of favour striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, was the hero of the day, as he made his debut for Blackburn, scoring a brace to earn the team their first victory of the season to ease the pressure on manager, Steve Kean.
Blackburn came from behind to beat a fumbling Arsenal 4-3 at Ewood Park.
Erstwhile, Apostolos Vellios and Royston Drenthe scored their first goals in English football to give Everton a valuable victory against Wigan, just as early goals in quick succession from Joey Barton and Alejandro Faurlin and a late goal from DJ Campbell gave QPR 3-0 win over Wolves at Molineux.
Swansea won 3-0 to claim their first Premier League goals and first win with a stylish performance against Peter Odemwingie’s West Brom.
The 4-3 win against Arsenal lifts Blackburn off the foot of the table, while for Arsenal, their stuttering start to the season continues with Arsene Wenger’s side beaten in three of their opening five Premier League games.
The Gunners took the lead through Gervinho, who fired past Paul Robinson from 12-yards, but Blackburn equalised following debutant, Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s deft finish.
Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta scored from just inside the box after Aaron Ramsey’s intelligent cutback before Alex Song put the ball into his own net from Ruben Rochina free-kick.
Aiyegbeni tapped in Steven Nzonzi’s shot across goal for 3-2, then Laurent Koscielny bundled past his own keeper after Martin Olsson’s fine run and cross.
Marouane Chamakh’s late headed consolation completed the scoring, while Arsenal had late chances to rescue a point.
Kean was the subject of a pre-match protest by the club’s fans, who called for his dismissal prior to this game.
Wigan scored the opener against Everton when Franco Di Santo cut in and saw his shot from an angle deflected in by Tony Hibbert.
Seconds later Everton were level, with Phil Jagielka’s close-range header.

Skipper Barton netted his first goal for QPR in the eighth minute when he converted a cross from Shaun Wright-Phillips. Two minutes later, it was 2-0, as the enterprising Faurlin made Wanderers pay for slack defending.DJ Campbell made it three in stoppage time after a run from Armand Traore.
Aston Villa and Newcastle extended their unbeaten starts to the season to five games after an entertaining draw.
Gabriel Agbonlahor scored his third goal of the season, slotting in from 10 yards, after his volley had been blocked by Fabricio Coloccini.
Villa keeper Shay Given, playing against his former club for the first time, saved well from Steven Taylor. But Leon Best earned a point, firing home from close range after Given had saved his initial header.
Scott Sinclair’s penalty broke the levee after Paul Scharner’s clumsy lunge on Joe Allen in the area.
Leroy Lita added a second, heading home when Sinclair flicked on a corner, then turned provider by nodding a long punt into Nathan Dyer’s path for a third.
But Swansea’s red letter day was marred when Neil Taylor was carried off after being clattered by Odemwingie.
