Calabar – As the Cross River state government welcomes the Appeal Court judgment that elongated the tenure of five governors till next year, the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has described the judgment as a judicial endorsement of rigging.

The Appeal Court, Friday, upheld the judgment of an Abuja High Court that the tenure of the governors whose victory were upturned and re-run took place would stay in office for a period of four years starting from when they were sworn-in after the re-election.

Planned Attacks Called Off By Militant Group

Lagos - Nigeria's most prominent militant group, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), says it has called off planned bomb blasts and attacks on oil facilities so elections will not be disrupted in the West African country.

Nigeria was in the process of a legislative vote on Saturday when the country's electoral chief announced its postponement to today because of widespread organisational problems.

Presidential elections are to take place on April 9 and governorship and state assembly polls on April 16.
