The Nigeria unions suspended their nationwide strike on Monday, hours after President Goodluck Jonathan partially reinstated subsidies to keep gasoline prices low and after authorities deployed soldiers, who fired over the heads of protesters.
In a joint world press conference by labour and its allies, in Abuja, NLC President, Abdulwaheed Omar said that labour
has suspended the strike, mass rallies and protests across the country .
It also reiterated that the N97 price of petrol was a unilateral decision of the federal government.
