Despite his failed prediction that the world will end on May 21, Oakland preacher Harold Camping still stands by his theory and unfolded a new doomsday date .. October 21.
"The whole world is under Judgment Day and it will continue right up until Oct. 21, 2011 and by that time the whole world will be destroyed," said Camping in an Open Forum.
Camping, who already has a wrong Judgment day prediction to his credit with his September 1994 doomsday dud, said to adopt a wait and watch approach till October 21.
According to his earlier prediction, the judgment day would have unfolded in two neatly planned phases; the rapture on May 21, 2011 and the final annihilation of the world on October 21.
The Oakland preacher Camping's earlier prediction stated that the apocalypse will unfold with a fierce earthquake in New Zealand at 6 pm local time, which will "continue across the Earth at such a rate that every Richter scale in the world and every news organization in the world will have no doubt - Judgment Day is here." According to his theory, those who remain alive after May 21 will be the sinners whose turn of destruction will come six months later, in October.
The quake/flood juggernaut would have selectively destroyed/saved those who come in its path according to his original theory. He has made some modifications now, saying that the two will be clubbed and that the double whammy will hit us on October 21
Camping also said though there is no visible Judgment on May 21, it happened in spiritual sense.
"On May 21, this last weekend, this is where the spiritual aspect of it really comes through. God again brought judgment on the world. We didn't see any difference but God brought Judgment Day to bear upon the whole world."
Harold Camping, the head of a Christian broadcast group called Family Radio, has been predicting for years that the day would take place on May 21, 2011, although he had claimed earlier that the world would end in September 1994. But when it passed without cataclysmic results, he said he miscalculated and that the end would take place on May 21, 2011.
Harold Camping bases his strange, convoluted and idiosyncratic theory of apocalyptical flood on Bible, but it is obvious that he picks and chooses anecdotes, verses and Biblical stories conveniently so he can stitch together the theory of a flood that will happen in his own lifetime.
In the Bible, it is said that Noah had been given 7 days to prepare for the flood. According to 2 Peter 3:8, "With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." Camping says the '7-day warning notice' has been in place and he has actually decoded it precisely. Camping says though, that instead of a 7-day warning, it's really been a 7,000-year-warning.
